Location Monitoring

As an alternative to traditional incarceration, the U.S. Probation Office for the District of Columbia operates a Location Monitoring Program. The technology we use includes Radio Frequency, Global Positioning System and Smartlink. These technologies may be used in conjunction with traditional methods that include curfews or 24 hour restrictions to the home. Using location monitoring systems allow officers to manage the risks to the community by verifying the location of persons under supervision and their compliance with conditions of release.
