The United States Probation Office for the District of Columbia has received reports of individuals posing as probation officers, or using government titles with the office name, in an attempt to defraud individuals. If you receive a phone call from someone who identifies themselves as calling from the U.S. Probation Office in the District of Columbia and you are concerned about the legitimacy of the call, please:

1. take down the caller’s name,
2. hang up,
3. call our main number at (202) 565-1300
4. ask for the person by name.
