Travel Policy

If you are on supervision with another U.S. probation/pretrial services office

If you are on supervision with another U.S. Probation or Pretrial Services Office, you must have permission from that office to travel to the District of Columbia. Your officer at the other U.S. Probation/Pretrial Services Offices should have details of your travel, including the dates of travel, your mode of travel (e.g., car, train, or plane with corresponding flight/train or vehicle tag numbers), and the address and phone number of where you are staying, and the purpose of your trip.

If you are on supervision with this office

During the first 60 days on supervision, you are not permitted to travel outside of a 50-mile radius of the District of Columbia. Thereafter, you may travel outside of a 50-mile radius if approved in advance by your probation officer.  All travel outside of the United States must be approved in writing by the Court. You should work with your probation officer well in advance of booking airfare or hotels, so your officer will - if approved - have time to submit your request to the Court.

Before seeking permission to travel, you should be in general compliance with supervision, including all special conditions imposed the court.
